i finally made it over to the getty villa with a friend last week (albeit by default) as our plan to visit the getty museum was squashed - turns out it's closed mondays, not tuesdays! either way, it was a perfect autumn day for taking in some culture.

the workmanship of the pieces was impeccable - so much detail and time put into each and every piece....as beautiful as it was, in a sad way it kind of reaffirmed my thinking that us humans are devolving as technology - great as it is - seems to be dumbing us down and setting our standards lower than they should. but, that's a whole other conversation to be had.

commissioned by j. paul getty to house his growing collection of antiquities in the style of old pompeii, the villa provides a little window into stylings of that time - down to the arrangement and choice of floor design, to the layout of the gardens.
and to think the guy passed before it was even completed...

why is it that all i want to do is buy art? every where i go i want at least one piece of art that is hanging on the wall or that is for sale. i think i have a problem.

wow. ok, so i'm not that dramatic...well, maybe i am. 2009 has been rough!!
but, hopefully good things are on the horizon: a trip back to asia, the start of new beginnings, a gorgeous bottle of wine, and of course, my friends.
